My Double Lung Transplant

May I have the attention of the classroom please?

I'm just gonna come right out and say it. I'm not gonna save it for the middle of the blog. Grab on to all your extremities people:

I'M OFFICIALLY A STATUS 2

My status has officially been changed! I'M OFFICIALLY HIGHER UP ON THE LIST! To say that i jumped up and down and screamed would be an accurate, honest description. And to say that i had a coughing fit of joy on the couch immediately afterwards would be another accurate description

I had clinic yesterday and it was discussed. Immediately afterwards I saw my co-ordinator in the assessment office where i was filling up my tank. I told her how clinic was and how the doc said she'd discuss the change with the physio ppl, and she said, "Funny - i thought they already changed it. Either way, that will put you pretty high up so - BE READY"

And then TODAY - more like, now, she called me, confirming that they changed my status and that "this puts you pretty much at the top for your blood type, and that [the call] will most likely be sooner rather than later"

HOLY OMG PEOPLE.

So that's why i havent updated b/c i didn't want to jinx anything.

I also had a CT scan yesterday. I joked with the tech afterwards. I said, "Well, were the lungs lovely" and he laughed and said, "Hey...at least you held your breath..."

YAY OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bet that is a great feeling. Do you mind me asking your blood type? Is is rare or common?

I am on the inactive lung transplant list because my funtions have been going up and down over the past 2 years.

I wish you the best and hope you get the call before you get to read this. (Smile)

You won't jinx anything, Bree... I'm so happy for you, in a weird, sick, kinda way!!! In the way that says you're happier for someone who has certification that they are now sicker than they were... But I know how important that is...

I remember while I was waiting I made some kinda pledge to myself that I was NOT going to eat lobster until I got my new lungs... Not sure why I made that pledge... I love lobster, even though I don't have it much -- I think I just wanted a goal that went beyond getting my new lungs...

I was waiting over the millenium change and for New Years 2000, my princess's Dad & Step-Mom sent us lobster. Go figure. However, they also sent us crabs too! (Not the kind you scratch, the kind you dip in drawn butter...) So I did not eat the lobster and saved that for a fancy dinner a month after my new lungs...

You won't jinx it by talking about it... Look at your comments... There are people all over the world thinking about you, and smiling for you, and hoping for you, and praying for you... A little news like this just makes us think and smile and hope and pray harder!!!

You take care, Bree... I hope someday, after you get your beautiful, new lungs, I get to meet you...

Love, Steve
