Firstly, NO, I DIDN'T GET MY CALL.
But it's definately related to it.
I was facebook stalking as I always do, when i went into the group "Awareness for Tissue and Organ Donation". I am a part of it but I never go in there, but today I did.
I was reading the wall when i got to the second posting and was absouletly stunned. I am going to copy and paste it, and please comment about what you think of it (either in the comments or in the guestbook).
"My daughter Hollie passed silently in her sleep on Sept, 1st,2008. 4 days before her 11th, birthday. We too donated her gifts of life to help families not to have to go through what we went through on that day.. We never had any signs or symptoms that she was even injured. She just never woke up. She was rushed to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto where they had found that she died from a brain Aneurysm.. 3 adults with terminal conditions were saved. Gentleman with liver failure received her liver, A young woman and gentleman both with end stage renal desease received kidneys. Her heart and valves went to 2 other people on September 2nd,2008."
I got my call on Sept 2nd, 2008, and the donor deterorated too fast so I never got her lungs. I had a feeling that the donor was in Toronto which is why they wanted us to rush there. The Trillium Gift of Life woman told me that the donor was a "beautiful little girl". You will note that the mother never said that the lungs were used.
Is it just me, or does this seem to be more than a coincidence? Could this really be the girl whose lungs I was supposed to get and never did....?

Yes sweetie, I'm sure, this can't be anything else. Little Hollie was your almost-donor.
Biggest hug
Sounds like that was your "almost donor"! How amazing you found this out. I'm sure Hollie was an amazing kid, and I'm sure another one will come along. Three done this past weekend. Surely you will be soon. Sending my best wishes,
Alex p
Crazy... I think it would have to be.
Hugs!
I'm stunned too. I wouldn't think anything except it was you. Or she was the donor, or however that is supposed to be worded. Wow....
And my first thought when I read the title was you got the call....phew glad ya cleared that up LOL
Hey Bree...
I too think that it is highly likely that this was your almost-donor...
I had four false alarms while I waited for Kari's beautiful lungs... During each ride to the hospital -- and often since -- I thought about those families losing a loved one, and reaching out to try to save my life... Though the first four times were "false alarms", the potential gift was no less precious -- the gesture no less kind and compassionate...
I think, if you feel the strength, that it might be neat for both you, and that family, to thank them for trying -- they saved three people, and they almost saved another precious person -- you... They might appreciate a connection... Let them know you're still waiting, but that their gesture helped you understand that it can and will happen -- that there are truly gracious people out in the world, as they are...
Just a thought... Might be a good karma thing too...
Love,
Steve
WOW... yeah you are definitely onto something there... it's pretty awesome! Maybe it's a sign that your time is coming...?
I think it's a fate moment right here. Take advantage of the moments that are given to you. To every happy ending there is an equally sad ending. What a gift these parents and their daughter are to the world.
